Because of the quarantine restrictions I have no-one to spar with during my boxing sessions. During a normal session, sometimes the dogs come and play along with us while we are training. Especially Jazz who likes to join in when we are trading punches sometimes. So I had this idea for an image.


As most of these are, it's another selfie. I got Jazz to stand on his hind legs and then helped him to position his paws the way I wanted them.

Once I had that shot, I was able to look at it so that I could position myself to compliment the position and pose that Jazz was in. The exposures were all made with a remote trigger so that I didn't need to move out of the correct position once I had found it.

It was a little tricky operating the trigger with boxing gloves but I managed to find a way of holding and operating it that worked out.


In the frame that I finally chose, Pepper was fortunately also in the right position for what I ha in mind. To finish off, I added some more shadowing and took a picture of a pair of children's boxing gloves which I then comped onto Jazz' paws.

Air BnB Campaign Shoot in Kent, UK

After spending the night in London, we traveled down to Kent to shoot a series of scenes. The film crew would capture footage for the film and I would get the still shots for the media campaigns. It was a fresh and beautifully sunny day as we arrived for lunch at The Bull . After a hearty pub lunch it was time to continue with work. The location was a beautifully converted windmill and we would be working with a child and with an animal. For this shoot you can disregard all the sayings about working with children and animals. This all went well and I would happily work again with the girl and the cat talent anytime. The cat was up first and with the help of the cat wrangler, we were able to get a whole range of usable poses for the kitchen window shot. Sometimes it feels like we've been living in the Matrix since 2020 got going...

We all have views and stories regarding this current year. For me personally, it hasn't been too bad, a little strange at times, but nothing disastrous. Meanwhile I know people personally who have been, and are, going through the mill. I was busy doing a shoot when a section of a room at a location I was working at, began to stimulate my imagination. And the image above is the result of all of that. Below you can see how I made it using other photos that I have taken in the past along with doing some illustration work on my computer.

Make sure all your gear stays with you...

I've been looking for a bag for a while that I can travel with to do editorial assignments which means being able to pack a reasonable amount of gear plus my laptop so that I can work on site and prepare and send pictures from anywhere I happen to be. I also am one of those people that enjoys the less is more approach to many aspects of my life. So what I wanted was a bag that could hold a large amount of gear, but packed into a reasonably compact and neat size. After doing a lot of research online, I felt that Kata may have the solution for me. I already own another model of their bags and am still really pleased with it.
