From Here to Maternity

Already 2 months into 2013 now as time just keeps on whizzing by. Earlier in in February  I photographed a very young baby. After doing various types of shoots, I finished the month with a maternity shoot. So instead of doing a before and after, it seems I ended up doing, After and Before.


Well the order really doesn't matter, we got some great pictures and everyone had fun. In  general I'm still keeping busy and I took individual portraits of 147 people in February. I'm also busy with a retouching project for a computer company in the Bay area.


I've also been talking with 3 clients  about 3 interesting projects that I've been busy doing planning work on and am hoping that at least 1 of them will get the go ahead this month (March).

And finally my first and last image sales for February 2013.

Size Matters

Viewing prints digitally on a screen can be enjoyable but viewing a physical print adds to the experience. And when that's the case, sometimes bigger is better. I have a whole range of prints that I currently print onto canvas and have them available for sale. I’ve also been receiving order for larger format prints. My largest so far included 2 prints that are 9 feet by 3.5 feet each in size. These larger canvases were for 2 bedrooms in a resort.  The majority of my work is currently Belize based. The canvas prints are printed for me in Belize City and the wooden frames are made to custom sizes by  Kelvin  Baizar   in Belmopan. (Kelvin is also an accomplished artist so check out his work). Creating May The Fourth

Emma called me, "Hey, I have this really cool idea for a shot for May the 4th. I'm dressed in motorcycle gear but I'm riding an Eopie ". Well it sounded a little off the wall so how could I not say yes! Emma owns and runs Motorbike Rentals & Alternative Adventures - Hopkins, Belize , and I often collaborate with her on photoshoots. Emma would be the model — not a problem. The shoot would be on a beach location — not a problem. And we need a full-sized Eopie from Star Wars — hmm. After scouring the inter-webs we found that good old eBay had a supply of the creatures, but they were only 3 inches tall. If you've worked with me on anything creative you'll know immediately that size really doesn't matter. What was concerning though was getting the Eopie delivered to Belize in time for me to shoot it and have the image ready to go live on May 4th. There must be a way out of all of this

2020 just keeps on doling out more twists to each story. A lot of people now wonder if there is anyway out of the wormhole we all seem to be existing in. This is a straight forward shot of the vehicle on one of the local dirt roads with marshland on the right side of the scene. I stood on a ladder and took a selfie using the self timer function and cut out the image. Next I illustrated the ladder digitally and placed it into the main image. Once I was happy with the ladder position, I positioned the selfie cut-out onto the ladder and sized it down to a scale that I felt worked for the composition. Once I was happy, I also added shadows and highlights to the ladder to help with the illusion. I did further work blending the ladder where it appears to enter the clouds. With all of this in place, I went ahead and digitally created the 'This Way Out' sign and blended it into the composition. Finally I did some overall toning to the image. Main Image Location: Sit
